What foods are allowed on the keto diet?

The ketogenic diet recommends eating a large percentage (60-70%) of fats, a moderate percentage (25-30%) of protein, and a low percentage (5-10%) of carbohydrates. A diet like this might include:

  • Breakfast
    • Eggs or omelets 
    • Sausage or bacon
    • Avocado (hold the potatoes and toast)
  • Lunch
    • Burger with no bun
    • Unwich (sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of bread)
    • Cobb or Caesar salad (no croutons)
  • Dinner
    • Any protein (chicken, fish, steak, etc)
    • Vegetables
    • Kebabs
    • Burrito bowl with no rice or beans
    • Nigiri or Sashimi
